UBE Score Transcript Services

NCBE performs UBE score transcript services on behalf of all jurisdictions that administer the UBE. A list of jurisdictions that administer the UBE can be found on the UBE Jurisdictions page. NCBE offers two types of UBE score transcript services:

  • official score transcripts sent to jurisdictions to transfer the examinee’s certified UBE scores; and
  • unofficial score transcripts sent to examinees for informational purposes.

Both official and unofficial UBE score transcripts include a full history of the examinee’s UBE scores (written scaled scores, MBE scaled scores, and UBE total scores) across all jurisdictions and all exam dates in NCBE's records as of the date the transcript request is processed. The examinee should not submit a request prior to the date of any examination that is to be included on the transcript.

Official UBE Score Transcripts: Examinees who would like to have their certified UBE scores transferred to other jurisdictions must submit a request to NCBE for an official score transcript. A list of jurisdictions that accept transferred UBE scores can be found on the Jurisdictions That Currently Accept UBE Scores page. All jurisdictions that administer the UBE accept transferred scores. Jurisdictions may begin accepting transferred UBE scores prior to or after their first administration of the UBE. Each jurisdiction sets its own requirements for admission and policies for accepting UBE scores from other jurisdictions. Examinees are strongly advised to consult the jurisdiction directly for the most accurate and current information about applying for admission on the basis of a UBE score earned in another jurisdiction. Contact information for jurisdictions can be found on the Bar Admission Services page.

Unofficial UBE Score Transcripts: Examinees who would like to learn their scores on the UBE may request an unofficial score transcript. An unofficial transcript is solely for the examinee’s information and cannot be used to transfer UBE scores to a jurisdiction. NOTE: Some UBE jurisdictions directly notify examinees of their scores, and an unofficial transcript might be duplicative of score information already provided to the examinee by the testing jurisdiction. If examinees are unsure of what score information is provided to them in the jurisdiction where they tested, they should check with the jurisdiction before requesting an unofficial transcript from NCBE. Payment to NCBE for an unofficial transcript is nonrefundable, even if the information in the transcript is duplicative of information provided to the examinee by the testing jurisdiction.

NCBE is not authorized to transfer or release any UBE score information until after the testing jurisdiction has announced its examination results and authorized release of the examinee’s scores.

Ordinarily, UBE transcript requests are processed the next business day, but no sooner than after the testing jurisdiction has announced its examination results and authorized release of the examinee's scores.

NOTE: The UBE Score Transcript Request Form is to be used only for UBE scores and cannot be used for MBE or MPRE scores. For assistance related to Multistate Bar Examination (MBE) scores, please go to the MBE Score Services page. MBE score services for examinees who take the UBE might include the following: (1) transfer of a concurrent MBE score from a UBE jurisdiction to a non-UBE jurisdiction that administers its local examination on Thursday or (2) transfer of a prior MBE score from a UBE jurisdiction to a non-UBE jurisdiction. For assistance related to Multistate Professional Responsibility Examination (MPRE) scores, please go to the MPRE Score Reporting Services page.

Identification of Examinees' Scores
Examinees must include their names, Social Security numbers, and dates of birth on the MBE answer sheets at the time of testing and on the UBE Score Transcript Request Form. Examinees must complete all required fields in the UBE Score Transcript Request Form. Additionally, examinees must have provided their names, Social Security numbers, and dates of birth on their MBE answer sheets to identify their scores at the time they took the UBE. NCBE may refuse to provide UBE score transcript services if the examinee's scores cannot be identified with confidence.

Fees
A $25 fee is required for each transaction. Each official or unofficial score transcript is considered a separate transaction. This fee may be paid by check made payable to NCBE or by credit card (MasterCard or Visa only). Refunds will not be provided for any reason. It is the examinee’s responsibility to read these instructions carefully before requesting any transcript services and to verify that he or she has provided the correct information in the request.
