UBE Score Transcript Services FAQs
How do I request score services from NCBE?
You must have an NCBE Number to request NCBE Score Services. If you do not know whether or not you have an NCBE Number, use the NCBE Number Lookup before proceeding.
- Log in to your NCBE Number Account.
- Click on the “Score Services” tab along the top of the page.
- Read through the corresponding page prior to beginning the request form, and click on the appropriate link for an MBE, UBE, or MPRE Score Services request.
- Click “Begin Request Form.”
- Complete all required fields on the first page, and verify the information that is already completed. If you do not know the month and year you took the exam, email score.services@ncbex.org and provide your NCBE Number.
- On the next page, select a jurisdiction from the drop-down if you would like your score report sent to a jurisdiction or check the appropriate box if you would like a replacement copy of your score.
- Verify your score services on the following page and submit payment. You may pay by credit card or check. Paying by check will delay the processing of your request.
- When your payment information is complete, click “Checkout.” You will receive a confirming email when your request is submitted and another one when your request has been processed.
How can I request UBE score services if I did not have an NCBE Number when I sat for the exam?
If you did not have an NCBE Number when you sat for the exam, create an account to request score services. We will locate your score using other pieces of biographic information. You must have provided sufficient biographic information on your answer sheet at the time you tested. NCBE may refuse to provide score services if your scores cannot be identified with confidence.
How can I find out the requirements for admission by transferred UBE score?
You may wish to review Chart 10 in the Comprehensive Guide to Bar Admission Requirements for a general guide. You should contact the bar admissions authority in the jurisdiction to which you seek admission for specific information and to verify that the information in Chart 10 is up to date.
Which jurisdictions currently accept UBE scores?
All jurisdictions that administer the UBE accept transferred scores. Jurisdictions may begin accepting transferred UBE scores prior to or after their first administration of the UBE. (See Which jurisdictions administer the UBE?) The following jurisdictions currently accept transferred UBE scores earned in another jurisdiction: Alabama, Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming.
If the jurisdiction in which I took the bar examination administered the MEE, MPT, and MBE prior to adopting the UBE, does my exam score subsequently qualify as a UBE score?
No. The UBE is more than the sum of its components. It is uniformly administered, graded, and scored by the jurisdictions that adopt it. The fact that a jurisdiction administered the MEE, MPT, and MBE does not qualify the score as a UBE score.
If I took the bar examination in a jurisdiction that administers the MEE, MPT, and MBE, can I transfer my exam score to a UBE jurisdiction?
You must take the examination in a UBE jurisdiction to earn a portable UBE score. If the jurisdiction in which you tested had not adopted the UBE at the time you took the exam, you did not earn a UBE score, even if that jurisdiction administered the MEE, MPT, and MBE. You might be able to transfer your MBE score to a UBE jurisdiction and sit for only the MEE and MPT (and local component, if the jurisdiction requires) to seek admission in that jurisdiction, but you will not earn a portable UBE score if you do so.
Once a jurisdiction adopts the UBE, will it accept transferred UBE scores earned prior to its adoption of the UBE?
Yes, provided the UBE score was earned within any time limits set by the jurisdiction regarding the maximum age of transferred UBE scores. Review Chart 10 in the Comprehensive Guide to Bar Admission Requirements. You should contact the bar admissions authority in the jurisdiction to which you seek admission for specific information and to verify that the information in Chart 10 is up to date.
If I take the UBE, can I transfer my MBE score to a non-UBE jurisdiction?
Yes, provided the non-UBE jurisdiction accepts transferred MBE scores. Review Chart 8 in the Comprehensive Guide to Bar Admission Requirements.
If I take the bar examination in a non-UBE jurisdiction, can I transfer my MBE score to a UBE jurisdiction?
Yes, provided the UBE jurisdiction accepts transferred MBE scores. Review Chart 8 in the Comprehensive Guide to Bar Admission Requirements. If you transfer a prior MBE score to a UBE jurisdiction, however, you will NOT earn a portable UBE score. You must take all portions of the examination (MEE, MPT, and MBE) in the same exam administration to earn a portable UBE score.
