Digital Communications Specialist

The Digital Communications Specialist will be primarily responsible for developing, maintaining, and enhancing the external digital communications of the organization. The person in this position will work closely with leadership and the communications team to execute a cohesive strategy to grow the organization’s online presence through website and social media postings. A successful candidate for this position is a creative self-starter who has experience in digital marketing and content design. This person will be expected to practice impeccable quality control, and discretion in handling confidential material. The ability to maintain consistent attention to detail is essential.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute strategies to enhance the external digital communications of the organization
  • Develop and implement a social media strategy, including strategies for monitoring and engaging with responses and content from external audiences
  • Schedule and align communications across the organization’s websites and social media platforms
  • Write, edit, and manage engaging website and social media content
  • Perform other duties as needed

Education and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
  • Two-plus years’ experience working in digital communications
  • Experience with social media platforms and campaigns, including social media best practices
  • Experience writing and editing content for the web and social media
  • Knowledge of Google Analytics, content management systems such as WordPress, and responsive web design
  • Experience with email marketing and mass mailings using tools such as MailChimp
  • Excellent communications (oral and written), interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills
  • Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks

Preferred Qualifications:

  • HTML/CSS coding experience
  • Experience preparing graphics and video for various platforms
  • Knowledge of search engine optimization (SEO) best practices
  • Knowledge of web accessibility best practices
  • Knowledge of SilverStripe CMS

This is an on‐site position, located near downtown Madison, close to several bus routes and a bike path.
