NCBE is committed to providing reasonable and appropriate accommodations to examinees with documented disabilities who demonstrate a need for accommodations in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act Amendments Act of 2008 (ADAAA). NCBE will make reasonable modifications to policies, practices, and procedures that might otherwise prevent individuals with disabilities from taking the MPRE in an accessible place or manner, provided such modifications do not result in a fundamental alteration to the examination, impose an undue burden, or jeopardize examination security.
You must request test accommodations if you have a disability that necessitates any deviation from the standard test administration policies or schedule. Review the MPRE Test Day Policies for a list of what to bring and what not to bring to the test center and a description of other test administration policies. You do not need to request accommodations to bring allowed items, provided that your use of such items will not require any deviation from the standard test schedule or other policies.
NCBE must RECEIVE your request for accommodations, including all supporting documentation, by the late registration deadline for your MPRE test date. This is a “received by” deadline and NOT a postmark deadline; delivery to the post office or a courier service by the deadline does not constitute receipt by NCBE. Likewise, unsuccessful electronic transmission does not constitute receipt. There are NO exceptions to the deadline.
The deadline also applies to requests for reconsideration of our decision. We encourage applicants to register and request accommodations early in the registration period so there is time to seek reconsideration and submit additional documentation. Applicants whose requests are received fewer than 15 business days before the deadline run the risk of not having time to request reconsideration or provide additional documentation. NCBE will not review or consider any requests or documentation received after the deadline, including requests for reconsideration.
If you requested accommodations for the MPRE within the preceding two years, regardless of whether your request was approved or denied, review the Repeat Applicants page for special instructions.
How to Apply
Review the 5 components of a complete request for test accommodations.
NCBE reviews requests for accommodations in the order received and usually makes decisions within 10-15 business days of receipt. All correspondence from NCBE regarding your accommodations request will be sent exclusively by electronic posting to your NCBE Account File Cabinet unless you specify paper correspondence in your Applicant Request Form. Review Accommodations Decisions for detailed information about the decision process.
