Character and Fitness Investigations

The National Conference of Bar Examiners conducts Character and Fitness Investigations on applicants seeking either admission to the bar or a limited license to practice law.  Not all jurisdictions participate in our Character and Fitness Investigations service; therefore, consult with the jurisdiction to which you seek admission to determine if they participate in this service.  A regularly updated list of contact information for the jurisdictions appears on the Bar Admissions Offices page.  

Character and Fitness Electronic Application

The character and fitness application can be completed online. Before beginning the application please check with your jurisdiction to see if they accept this application.  Not all jurisdictions use this application.  COMPLETING AND SUBMITTING THIS APPLICATION TO NCBE DOES NOT CONSTITUTE A COMPLETION OF THE APPLICATION PROCESS FOR ADMISSION TO THE BAR.
